All are encouraged to participate in our fledgling choir which prepares music for Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost. We don’t require any special music knowledge only a joy and willingness to enrich our worship with song. |
Daughters of the King |
Michelle Moody
A Daughter of the King undertakes a rule of life and pledges to dedicate herself through a life of prayer and service. Although the Daughters have an individual and personal ministry, they share a community ministry as well at St. Nicholas. They also compile a prayer list and pray for people in the congregation daily. |
Usher Coordinator |
John Winsness
The Ushers assist those attending services. They are the greeters, hand out the bulletins, collect and count the offering, note the attendance and facilitate the flow of communicants to the altar rail during Communion. |
Lay Eucharistic Minister Coordinator |
LIz Dixon
Lay Eucharist Ministers (LEMs) are lay persons licensed by the Bishop to administer the consecrated bread and wine at any celebration of the eucharist where there are not a sufficient number of priests or deacons to assist the celebrant. They may also share the sacrament with members of the congregation who cannot be present due to illness or infirmity. From time to time they may conduct worship that does not include the consecration, which must be done by an ordained priest. At St. Nicholas (LEMs) also assist the clergy during worship by carrying the processional cross, reading the lessons and prayers, and assisting at the Celebrant during Communion. |
Flower Guild Coordinator |
Linda Sawyer
The Flower Guild is responsible for providing flowers for holy services. Flowers are arranged for each Sunday with special flowers for Easter and Christmas. |
Altar Guild Coordinator |
Liz Dixon
The Altar Guild is responsible for the sanctuary altar. This involves care of the communion silver and other vessels as well as the altar linens and those used in the communion service. Additional responsibilities are the vestments of the clergy, the frontals for the altar, hangings for the pulpit and the lectern Bible, and the crosses and flags used in procession. The sacristy where these items and supplies are stored and maintained is also where preparations are made for each service. The Guild manages the supplies used for worship, including the wine, wafers, and candles. |
Baptismal Banner Committee |
Liz Dixon
This committee creates banners, containing the symbols of the sacrament, which are then given to each newly baptized person at St. Nicholas. Each is a unique reminder of this sacred event. |

Memory Garden Committal |
Church Office
The Memory Garden is a recently completed native garden setting for meditation and prayer as well as a place for the interment or scattering of ashes. It is consecrated and dedicated permanently to this purpose as a service to our members, their loved ones and other Christians of our community. All interments are beneath unmarked stepping stones of the flagstone path through the garden. For information about reserving a place in the memory garden, please contact the church office for a form. A separate endowment fund has been set up to handle the operation and maintenance of the garden. All gifts are welcome and tax deductible. |
Memory Garden Committee |
Connie Blackmon
This committee is responsible for maintaining the beauty of the garden, assisting with committals, keeping all records related to the garden and recommending revised policies and procedures to the Vestry. |
FOCUS |
John and Charlotte Winsness
FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians United in Service) ministers to the material and spiritual needs of the residents of Harris County. St. Nicholas provides the proceeds from one collection per month as a donation as well as gifts of food to help stock the food pantry. Parishioners serve on the Board of Directors, volunteer at the Thrift Shop, help staff the office and participate in the annual Thanksgiving food drive and distribution. |
CVEM |
Marci Horne
CVEM (Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry) is initiated and led by Episcopalians, a place where parishioners can live out their spiritual gifts, where lay ministry is sought out and validated in service to the poor. We have one member on the board at this time and we participate where we can. |
Relay for Life |
St. Nicholas participates in the Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society, to honor those parishioners who are survivors of cancer and in memory of those who have lost their battle. We sell homemade baked goods at the event to raise money and sponsor our members as walkers. |
